I sat in strategy meeting today

The purpose to help us determine our way

We talked a whole lot and had nothing to say

For a brief shining moment I pictured “the way”

But the meeting got worse and hope faded away

We said the same thing that we said every year

And the prospect for change seemed to just disappear

As the verbiage increased and the rhetoric soared

My eyelids grew heavy, my rear got quite sore

I slept in a strategy meeting a bit

Nobody noticed or threw a big fit

I snored just a little with drool on my lip

I sat in a strategy meeting and dreamed

Of working together as one vibrant team

And when I woke up I wanted to scream

I spoke in a strategy meeting today

So sick of it all I just had to say

The meeting was useless, a waste of a day

I just didn’t feel like I wanted to play

I was tired of watching our chance slip away

Of all of us talking with nothing to say

The meaningless garbage we all “A-OKed”
