More Audit Carols

For your dancing, dining, singing, and holiday pleasure, a few more auditing carols. Here's an idea: Get the auditors together, run through the songs a few times, take another shot of courage, and then share the joy of auditing with the rest of the company.

I’ll Be Done With Testwork

I’ll be done with testwork.
You can count on me.
Please hold on, it won’t be long,
‘Til my results you’ll see

I’ll meet all the due dates.
I’m part of the team.
I’ll be done with testwork
If only in my dreams

I Found Weak Controls (From the Broadway hit "The Sound of Auditing")

Unsecured credit and duplicate payments,
Escheated checks that had too many claimants,
Auditees’ stories full of gaping holes.
These were some times when I found weak controls.

Key information free and unrestricted,
E-mail and texts that were all unencrypted,
Fudging statistics to meet foolish goals.
These were some times when I found weak controls.

When the banks fail,
When the stocks flail,
When all trading’s banned,
I simply remember the findings I’ve found
And know I’ve done all I can.

Lack of direction, approvals backdated,
Critical duties still unsegregated,
Trusted employees just out on parole.
These were the times when I found weak controls.

When the cops come,
When the deeds done,
When the crooks are canned,
I simply remember the findings I’ve found
And know I’ve done all I can.

Let it Go, Let it Go, Let it Go

Oh there’s so much wrong it’s frightening,
But the time has gone like lightning.
And since our budget ran low – Let it go, let it go, let it go.

Not everything got tested.
If it had they’d be arrested.
But because we were working slow —Let it go, let it go, let it go.

When we started out ranking risks,
We could see there was lots to be done.
But we squandered away our time,
And the hours were suddenly gone.

So we know they want opinions,
But we’re running out of minions.
And although it’s not apropos — let it go, let it go, let it go.
