The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) has published a collection of articles on the general topic of “the priority topics dominating boardroom discussion.” Governance Challenges: 2012 and Beyond includes advice from a number of firms with varying perspectives. 

Love him or hate him (few are undecided), Tim Leech is a man of passion. He is passionate on the topics of internal audit and risk management, to name just two. 

A provocative piece in ComplianceEX (which considers itself a “news and idea exchange for compliance, legal, regulatory, risk and audit professionals") caught my eye. The title is Competing Agendas: Senior Management Must Clarify Compliance Officer, General Counsel Roles.

In its latest Audit Committee Roundtable Report (PDF), KPMG had some interesting observations on whether the board and other governance activities is adapting to the increased pace of business, or the accelerated rate of change and increased volatility of risk. 

The Center for Audit Quality (CAQ) is an interesting organization. Affiliated with the AICPA and holding themselves out to be an independent and objective advocate for quality in external audits, they periodically hold meetings on topics of interest to governance, risk management, and assurance practitioners. I have attended a couple of meetings as a representative of The IIA and found the attendance to be high-quality and the discussions meaningful.
