International Conference Offers Universal Insights and Provides New Opportunities for Global Internal Audit Research

More than 10,000 miles away from IIA headquarters, individuals from around the globe gathered to attend The IIA’s 2011 International Conference this past July in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The IIARF’s New Vice President and Next Great Champion

The twang in her voice that exposes her Arkansas roots and her love of salsa dancing make her an interesting character study. However, it is her more than two decades as a dedicated employee of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) that make Margie Bastolla the ideal candidate for the new vice president of The IIA Research Foundation. Going the distance is something friends and colleagues say you can count on Mark Salamasick to do whenever he takes on a project. It is this dedication that originally led to his nomination to The Institute of Internal Auditors Research Foundation’s (IIARF’s) Board of Trustees (BOT) and allows him to continue to go the distance as he completes his second, three-year term. Having previously served on the Committee of Research and Education Advisors (CREA), the technical committee reporting to the BOT, Salamasick’s intense focus and unyielding passion for the profession were quickly noticed.
