Last week, I wrote about a PwC study about corporate directors. 

I enjoy reading Korn/Ferry articles. They have a different perspective, as executive recruiters who work with boards as well as management, from the typical governance expert or consultant. Their most recent report has a number of comments that I found interesting. 

BoardMember.com has published an interview with John B. Morse Jr, who chairs the audit committee for Host Hotels and Resorts. In addition to talking about risk culture and what his company does about it, he talks about the importance of risk management to the audit committee.

An article in AccountancyAge caught my eye this morning. It refers to a survey by the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA, formerly known as IIA–UK) and talks about desired characteristics of non-executive (also known as independent) directors. You can see the survey on the CIIA site.

The IIA’s North American Board has announced the creation of the “Hall of Distinguished Audit Practitioners.” I welcome this opportunity to recognize the thought and practice leaders who have contributed to our profession.

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) has released a couple of interesting reports that you might find useful, perhaps sharing with your general counsel and others:

Earlier this year, the Center for Audit Quality (which is affiliated with the AICPA) held a series of roundtables to obtain the input from investors, board members, lawyers, and business executives on the role of the external auditor. One internal auditor was present at a roundtable.
