Nonmembers - Membership Application Fee Waiver
By calling The IIA at +1-407-937-1111 and mentioning the source code EXAM prior to registering for the exam, The IIA will waive the US $25 IIA membership application fee. This offer is not extended for the specialty exams (CCSA, CGAP and CFSA). The IIA offers a variety of membership types, including regular, group, educator, student, retired, and life.

Discounts for Full-Time Students/Professors
The IIA offers reduced CIA application and exam registration fees to candidates who are full-time students or professors (educators), as outlined below. This offer does not apply for the CCSA, CFSA, or CGAP exams.
To qualify for discounted pricing, students must:
- Be enrolled as a full-time student* (enrolled in at least 12 semester hours or equivalent) in his/her senior (final) year, as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled; OR
- Be enrolled as a full-time graduate student (enrolled in at least 9 semester hours or equivalent), as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled.
*Full-time university students in their senior (final) year may enter the CIA program and sit for the CIA exam parts before completing their education requirement, however, they must complete the education requirement before they can be certified.
To qualify for discounted pricing, professors must:
- Be a full-time professor with an accredited educational institution; and
- Provide a letter from their local IIA chapter or institute supporting their request for professor status for pricing.
Eligible students and professors must also:
- Complete the special "CIA Application - Student/Professor" in the IIA Certification Candidate Management System.
- Submit a Full-Time Student/Professor Status Form .

IIA Members - Free Certification Exam Application
IIA members who attend an IIA headquarters-sponsored conference or seminar are eligible to apply for an exclusive, members-only waiver of the initial exam application fee.
Certified Internal Auditor® Exam (CIA®)
Receive a free CIA exam application (US $60 value) following your attendance at any IIA headquarters-sponsored conference, seminar, or a course at The IIA's Vision University, excluding The IIA's Annual Leadership Conference.
Certification in Control Self-Assessment® (CCSA®)
Receive a free CCSA exam application (US $50 value) following your attendance at any IIA headquarters-sponsored seminar or conference in control self-assessment.
Certified Government Auditing Professional® (CGAP®)
Receive a free CGAP exam application (US $50 value) following your attendance at any IIA headquarters-sponsored seminar or conference in government auditing.
Certified Financial Services Auditor® (CFSA®)
Receive a free CFSA exam application (US $50 value) following your attendance at any IIA headquarters-sponsored seminar or conference in financial services auditing.
To request the waiver of the initial exam application fee, IIA member candidates must submit the appropriate paper application (CIA application for CIA candidates or the Specialty Exam Application Form for CCSA, CGAP, and CFSA candidates). CIA candidates must check the "Waived" box under "Application Fee" on the CIA application. CCSA, CGAP, and CFSA candidates must write "Waived" next to "Application Fee" on the Specialty application form. Candidates applying for the waived application fee must also include a copy of the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) letter from the event with the exam program application form. The online application process through the Certification Candidate Management System cannot be used for application fee waiver requests. This offer expires one year from the completion date of the seminar or conference and is not retroactive.
