CIA Exam Transition
In July, The Institute of Internal Auditors’ Professional Certifications Board (PCB) approved the implementation plan for the initial English offering of the 2013 three-part Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®) Exam. The implementation plan highlights the timeline for the availability of registration and exam appointments for the new three-part exam and identifies the closing windows for registration and exam part offerings in English of the four-part model.
Candidates who are working to earn their CIA via the current four-part English exam have until June 30, 2013, to register for Parts 1, 2, or 3, or until Nov. 30, 2013, to register for Part 4 with a final completion deadline of Dec. 31, 2013, for all four parts.
Candidates will be eligible to begin registration for English exam parts under the new three-part model on May 1, 2013, and sit for exam parts starting July 1, 2013.
The IIA previously published information regarding the transferring of credit and exam part equivalency from the four-part to three-part exam model. Get information regarding the equivalency.
Additionally, during the transition period, candidates seeking certification under the four-part exam structure will now have the option to apply for Professional Experience Recognition (PER) for Part 4. Information on eligibility requirements, application processes, and fees is forthcoming.
In order to assist candidates in identifying the best path forward for attaining the CIA, the only globally recognized internal audit credential, The IIA has developed and online tool for candidates to review all available options based on their current certification status and the number of parts completed under the current exam structure.
