Exam Prep and Study Tips

Achieving an IIA certification is a goal of many members and internal audit practitioners alike. While pursuing a certification is a professional challenge, it involves intensive reading and study which will enable the successful candidate to master a variety of key topics.

The IIARF Bookstore offers numerous resources to those up to the challenge, no matter which of The IIA’s five certifications best suits their needs. From the navigation bar on the left side of the web page, select Topics, then click on Certification. From there, choose your preferred designation for all the options The IIA offers.

For The IIA’s flagship CIA designation, the Bookstore offers a variety of options including workbooks, online courses, CD-DVDs, and audio programs from recognized training experts.

Tips to make the most of your training program:

  • Find a study partner through your local chapter or Institute.
  • Check with your chapter or Institute to see if they sponsor study groups or offer preparation courses.
  • Employ a variety of study methods – workbooks, interactive online courses, eLearning options.
  • If your chosen source material provides sample tests or questions, take advantage of them. They will help you identify your areas of strength and weakness.
  • Join The IIA’s Official Global Group on LinkedIn. While The IIA moderates the group of approximately 64,000 members worldwide, it is an open forum in which you can ask questions, exchange ideas and information, or just sit back and enjoy the new discussion topics posted daily.

To exchange ideas or share information with others who have or are pursuing the certification of your choice, you can also request to join the appropriate LinkedIn subgroups. Log in , select Interests/Groups and search for the subgroup of your choice. Groups exist for each of The IIA’s certification options: CIA, CCSA, CFSA, CGAP, and CRMA.
