Celebrate the CIA’s 40th Anniversary as The IIA’s First Mark of Professional Achievement

IIA leaders attending annual Midyear Meetings in Orlando in December took time out of a jam-packed schedule of board and committee meetings to toast the remarkable global success of the first designation The IIA ever offered and that over time has become the only globally accepted mark of excellence within the internal audit profession — the Certified Internal Auditor, or CIA, designation.

The designation launched in 1973 remains the standard by which individuals demonstrate their competency and professionalism in the internal auditing field. More than 116,000 individuals around the world have achieved this premier designation.

In case you’ve missed it, The IIA’s “Celebrating 40 Years of CIA Certification” video is available here. Much has changed from when the exam was offered only once per year and only in English. The exam is now available in 16 languages and administered in more than 500 testing centers around the world year-round.
