Students, professors, and area professionals gathered at NC State Thursday evening April 17 for the chapter's latest Student Night.
Professors and students from NCSU, Meredith College, ECU, Campbell, UNC, and UNC-Greensboro attended. Professionals from over 15 companies joined them for pizza, networking, and a panel discussion on the internal auditing profession. Interesting fact--NCSU is starting an Internal Audit concentration in the Fall 2008. NC State is commencing its Internal Audit concentration in Fall 2008. It is also the home of the NC State ERM Initiative, headed by Mark Beasley, Professor of Accounting at State's College of Management. After the event Beasley remarked, "Our NC State students benefitted greatly from the one-on-one interactions during the reception time and from the panel discussion about the internal audit profession and career opportunities. Seeds were planted in students' minds that will give them a bigger picture of the exciting opportunities their accounting education will provide for them long-term. We believe that partnerships, such as the IIA Student Night, with professionals who expose students to real world thought leadership issues are vital to accounting education." |
