WELCOME TO THE IIA LEBANON WEBSITE

Welcome to IIA Lebanon,
Dear Reader,

The Institute of Internal Auditors Lebanon was established in the year 2000 by internal audit professionals with the aim of promoting the internal audit profession in Lebanon. We, as Internal Auditors, are the “hidden treasure” in every organization. We should continue to promote Corporate Governance at our own level and within our capacities, hoping that we will be the role models in our country where sound corporate governance is scarce; but greatly needed.

Significant accomplishments have been made by IIA Lebanon since its inception, and I would like to take this occasion to thank each and every individual who volunteered and contributed to the progress of IIA Lebanon.

In October 2008, IIA Lebanon won the IMAP award at the IIA San Francisco International Conference. IIA Lebanon was recognized for its achievements in the previous years, which mainly included the translation of the PPF into Arabic and the signature of the MOU with the LACPA. Currently, IIA Lebanon has more than 130 members and one of the challenges that the current Board will face is to increase the membership during our upcoming term.

During the next two years, we will strive to achieve more exposure and recognition for our profession. Although internal audit plays a crucial role in the organization we serve, we still are only slightly known by the general public and small and medium companies. Our professionalism, independence and the added value we bring are our major assets that should be exploited in order to advance and promote the internal audit profession in Lebanon and the region.

I am grateful to have the opportunity to serve as the President of IIA Lebanon until 2010, and would encourage all of you to join us so that the internal audit profession in Lebanon continues to prosper.
