Dear IIA Lebanon Members and Friends,
I would like first to wish each and every one of you a very Happy and Prosperous New Year! And to send a big thank you to all those who participated and assisted in the last General Assembly.
Due to the unforeseen changes which have occurred in IIA Lebanon Board’s structure, whereby the President Mr. Ramzi Tarabishi and Vice President Mr. Antoine Boufarah had to submit their resignations, for personal reasons, as they will be working abroad, and since the remaining time of the board’s term was more than six months ending on August 2012, the IIA Lebanon Board decided to call for a General Assembly to elect new President and Vice President.
The General Assembly for the elections, and based on the invitation previously sent to all eligible Members, was held at Radisson SAS Martinez Hotel, Phoenicia Street, Beirut – Lebanon on Wednesday January 11, 2012 at 6:00 PM. The quorum was met in the presence of the necessary required number of board members who signed on the attendance sheet; and given that the purpose of the meeting was the election of President and Vice President, Mr. Alexander Zugheib, the oldest member, chaired the meeting, and Mr. Wael El-Bsat and Mr. Malek Costa were appointed as auditors of the votes.
Since, according to Article VI of our By-Laws, the administrative board is composed of ten members, four of them being President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and the remaining six are members;
And given that there was only 1 nomination for each of the vacant positions, Mr. Naji Fayad and Mr. Fadi Hayek reigned by default as President and Vice President respectively.
The fact that Messrs. Fayad and Hayek are members of the Board of Directors, an issue which was accounted for in the board decision which called for the elections, necessitated the call for nomination for new Board Members.
Since Messrs. Bassem Nohra, Elie Abi Mrad, Mohammad Chehab and Rafik Houry ran for the 2 Governors’ seats, and then Messrs. Nohra and Houry withdrew their nominations, consequently Mr. Abi Mrad and Chehab reigned by default.
According to the above, the IIA Lebanon Chapter’s Board for the period ending August 2012 is now composed of:
1. President Mr. Naji Hassib Fayad
2. Vice President Mr. Fadi Elias El Hayek
3. Treasurer Mr. Wael Mohammad Said El-Bsat
4. Secretary Mr. Jean Tohme Chamoun
5. Governor Mr. Malek Elias Costa
6. Governor Mr. Walid Joseph Kazan
7. Governor Mr. Camille George Adouane
8. Governor Mr. Said Nicolas Najm Gebrane
9. Governor Mr. Elias Joseph Abi Mrad
10.Governor Mr. Mohammad Ahmed Anis Chehab
I would like to grab the opportunity to send, on behalf of the newly formed board, a BIG thank you to Ramzi and Antoine, our dearest President and Vice President for all their efforts during the previous period of present board mandate. They deserve all our appreciation and we wish them all the best in their endeavors. We will attempt to serve the remaining time of the mandate and diligently accomplish our objectives in the best way we can.
I wish also to send a big thank you to all those who vitally assisted in the organizational efforts of the election process and in making it a success.
Dear Fellows, I am truly honored and humbled to be associated with such an amazing group of professionals at IIA Lebanon, and again, I want to thank all of you for your continuous and valuable contributions.
I am confident that together we can continue in elevating the Internal Audit profession to a higher level, and in making our chapter grow stronger, with an ever increasing number of enthusiastic members.
