OUR VISION

To be recognized as the leading professional internal audit body in the State of Qatar.

OUR MISSION

To provide Qatari executive management, boards of directors, audit committees and internal auditors with current and leading edge information on issues such as ethics, internal control, corporate governance, and the changing role of internal auditing. Furthermore, to provide guidance and training relative to their roles in, and responsibilities for, the internal audit activity as a whole.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

• To assist in recognizing the internal audit profession as an international profession.
• To promulgate the profession's stand for ethical and governance best practices as well as sound internal controls.
• To promote and achieve compliance with the Institute's professional standards and qualifications.
• To assist in recognizing the Institute as the preferred provider of research, development, training, and dissemination of knowledge within enterprise risk services, incorporating areas such as internal audit, corporate governance, risk management and compliance.
• To provide quality service to members and to be seen by them operating as an integrated global body.

The dream of having a Chapter of The IIA in Qatar existed in the minds and hearts of a number of dedicated IA professionals in this country for many years. Finally, in June 2003 that dream became reality, as The IIA Qatar Chapter was formed. Growth came relatively fast and, as at December 31, the Chapter had a total membership of 38. These members were internal auditors and audit practitioners representing a cross-section of the private businesses, banking and the public sectors of the Qatari Econony. Currently the chapter has more than 400 members.

What Is In It For You?

The IIA offers opportunities for internal audit practitioners to share the latest techniques and approaches to internal auditing, update their knowledge and become certified as Internal Auditors, that way enjoying the benefits of being in the growth profession of the 21st century.

In addition, the Chapter will be a source of information for executive management and board members of organizations both in the public and private sectors of the Qatari economy, giving them the opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency within their internal audit departments.

The Chapter has, since its inception, organized a series of very relevant professional meetings which have allowed members and guests to network and to exchange ideas and up-to-date "know-how," drawing from the top internal auditors in the Gulf region and from around the globe. We are continually searching for ways to expand both the quantity as well as the range of subjects discussed, and we count on our members to provide their input towards that objective.

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) - the only globally accepted certification for internal auditors, in addition to the Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) examinations are now being administered by the chapter.
