IIA Ottawa Chapter Course / Seminar Offerings The IIA Ottawa Chapter is excited for the year ahead, as we continue to strive to meet your audit-related training needs. One of our main areas of emphasis as a Chapter is to provide our members with leading-edge, comprehensive training and development opportunities. Online registration is now open for all of the IIA Ottawa Chapter's training seminars and events for the 2010-11 and 2011-12 years. We encourage members to register early because many events are booking up fast. Effective June 1, 2011, we have introduced “early bird” pricing incentives. You can save up to $150 by registering more than two months in advance!

UNIVERSITY LAVAL - Quebec City The "Microprogramme de 2e cycle en audit interne contrôle et gestion des risques (AICG)" of the School of Accounting at Université Laval (Québec city) is the first program in Canada to receive the recongition from the Internal Auditing Education Partnership Program of the Institue of Internal Auditors (IIA).

CIA PREPARATION COURSE AT CARLETON UNIVERSITY 
| We are very excited that our Ottawa members now have an additional option when preparing for their CIA exams. Carleton University (Sprott School of Business Professional Programs) in partnership with the IIA Ottawa Chapter is now offering CIA exam preparation classes based on The IIA’s CIA Learning System.
The IIA’s CIA Learning System program is delivered in a blended learning format of printed workbooks and web-based learning software. To take a demo of these materials, visit www.LearnCIA.com. These tools are augmented by the expertise of an experienced instructor. The classroom environment allows for interaction with your peers and the instructor and also provides structure to keep you on track to meet your goals.

IIA OTTAWA CHAPTER UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP The IIA Ottawa Chapter is a proud to support the development of future generations of internal auditors. Through its academic relations programs activities, the chapter offers scholarships through local partner schools in the Ottawa area to deserving candidates. Currently, the chapter offers two such scholarships at the University of Ottawa and Carleton University. These are awarded annually and are intended to encourage students to consider a career in internal audit by awarding high performing students who have demonstrated an interest in the profession.
Through these scholarships, the chapter aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of the opportunities available in the field of internal audit and promote these to future generations. Links to the schools:

COMPUTER BASED CERTIFICATION EXAMS The IIA has rolled out computer based examinations for the CIA, CCSA and CGAP certifications. The Ottawa testing site for the CIA, CCSA, CGAP and CFSA is Pearson VUE - Willis College of Business & Technology at 85 O'Connor Street in Ottawa (on the corner of O'Connor Street and Slater). It is easily accessible by public transportation, between two main transit ways (Slater and Albert Streets). There is no parking on site but there are parking meters and public parking nearby. Please refer to the certification section of the IIA's website for more information on computer-based exams at www.theiia.org/certification. IIA OTTAWA CHAPTER’S STRATEGIC PLAN 2012-2015 The Ottawa Chapter’s 2007-2011 IIA Strategic Plan focused on strategic priorities aimed to optimize the use of time and resources in achieving the Chapter’s objectives for the period of the plan. These objectives included capacity development, increasing awareness, and knowledge brokering - while maintaining and building on its essential core activities related to international liaison, examination oversight, and professional development. The Chapter saw success in these areas through its increased professional development offerings, new investment with the CIA Learning System and On-line registrations and program changes, expanded relationship with the Office of the Comptroller General (OCG), and improvements to IIA Ottawa’s Board governance, terms, and nomination process.
