CIA Review Class

Training Description:

The course will use the Gleim CIA review materials for Parts 1, 2 and 3.This accelerated course is a focused review of questions that are similar to those in the CIA exam. The class was customized based on feedback from students, without lectures for three consecutive days, to cover Parts I, II, and III. Interpretations for answers considered "most right" and "least right" will be discussed. All participants are strongly encouraged to practice using CIA practice questions on CD or computer minimally, to prepare for the speed of the class.

Training Date and Time:

3 Days with each day dedicated to one part of the CIA exam; Part 1 - May 29, 2009, Part 2 - May 30, 2009 and Part 3 - May 31, 2009; participants may enroll for 1, 2 or 3 days. Registration 8:00 - 9:00 am with review starting at 9:00 am, daily.

Please note; There will be wireless internet access; please ensure your PC battery is fully charged as access to outlets may be limited with a full class.

Training Price:

Approximately $140 ($150 non-members) per part, or $420 ($450 non-members) for all three parts, including the course, study materials and breakfast/ lunch. A laptop is also required for the course. Participants are required to register for the course through the link below and to separately purchase their own materials. The breakdown of the $140 is a $100 fee per part for the course, and approximately $40 per part for study materials.

Training Course Material:

To purchase the course materials, please follow the instructions below; the instructor has suggested that only the applicable Test Prep CD-ROM is needed. Chapter members may access special discounted pricing through the Chapter website. Members should enter the "Members Only" area on the Chapter website. Inside the Members Only area, there is a Gleim icon and link to discounted pricing. When entering the Gleim site, there is a "CIA Review" button in the middle section. Click the button. In the next area, to the left, the top section is identified as "CIA Review" the second item / button down is identified as Test Prep CD-ROM - click it. Scrolling down will reveal the CDs for each part - the parts can be purchased separately. For Part 1: CIA Part I Prep CD-ROM, Part 2: CIA Part II CD - Rom and for Part 3: CIA Part III CD - Rom. Participants need to purchase only the CD for the classes they are attending. The web price for each is $49.95; however, the link provides a 20% discount. Please note, if you download the CD-ROM, you will not have to pay a shipping fee.

Training Instructors:

Kimberley Laris, CIA, CISA, QSA-PCI is the Owner of Positive Assurance, providing Governance Advisory Services for audit directors and audit committees, and concurring SAS 70 quality assurance reviews to CPA firms. She instructs courses and leads Quality Assurance Reviews for the IIA. Her prior internal audit experience was gained at Fleet Bank, Eastman Kodak, Ernst & Young. She was the Audit Director for Rochester Institute of Technology, where she is now an Adjunct Professor of Internal Control and Auditing.

Rebecca Goza CIA, CISA, CFE will also be assisting the class. She is the Audit Director for The American Cancer Society and is an Associated Auditor of IT Quality Assurance with Positive Assurance. Her prior experience includes auditing for The Hertz Corporation, Coopers & Lybrand, and Rebecca was the Audit Director at Fleming Companies.
