Course Description:

This is a course designed and taught by a statistician and Internal Auditor. The first part of the course concentrates on statistical theories, such as different types of statistical sampling and sample size calculation, and the difference between an Internal Audit Opinion and Statistical Significance.  The second part focuses on practical audit applications of those theories, including case studies and strategic sampling to maximize the results with limited audit resources.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own cases and data to be discussed with the class.

Presenter:

Don Dickie holds a PhD in statistics and measurement.  He is a Certified Internal Auditor and a former Audit Director for Canada Post.  He has taught statistics at the undergraduate and graduate levels at University of Ottawa and is a trained facilitator in adult learning.  He consulted statistical sampling for multiple organizations, and developed/managed large corporate measurement programs in customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and operational performance.

Cancellations must be received by September 23, 2010 – substitutions are welcomed.
