Program Overview:

Join us as John W. Schilling speaks to his 18 years of healthcare financial experiences which included Medicare reimbursement management at Columbia/HCA and Community Care of America where he gained various healthcare financial reporting and reimbursement knowledge.  Mr. Schilling has been a part of high-profile investigations of alleged Medicare, Medicaid, and Champus cost reporting fraud and improper cost shifting

Mr. Schilling is a former Medicare Fraud Investigator and Medicare cost report Auditor.  He coordinated healthcare fraud investigations working closely with the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG), and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).  With his Medicare reimbursement expertise he conducted numerous Medicare cost report training sessions for federal law enforcement agents and the Department of Justice Attorneys. 

More notably Mr. Schilling has had successful two qui tam actions.  Mr. Schilling was a relator in the Columbia/HCA case where he was instrumental in the successful FBI probe as a confidential undercover informant and served as a key witness in the Whiteside & Jarrell criminal trial.  Columbia/HCA agreed to a $1.7 billion civil settlement to resolve all qui tam issues which Mr. Schilling was a party to.   Additionally, Mr. Schilling was a successful relator in the KPMG case which settled for $9 million.   In both cases Mr. Schilling alleged Medicare, Medicaid, and Champus cost reporting fraud and improper cost shifting. 

Speaker Biography:

Mr. Schilling is a CPA and holds an accounting degree from the University of WI – Milwaukee.  Since his qui tam settlements he founded JWS Group which has been consulting with qui tam attorneys and the Federal government on Medicare cost report fraud cases. 

Recently, Mr. Schilling is a founding partner of EthicSoultions LLC, which provides consultation services in all areas of healthcare fraud and abuse to attorneys and various government agencies

In April 2008 Mr. Schilling became a published author of “Undercover, How I went from company man to FBI spy" and exposed the worst healthcare fraud in U.S. history.   A non-fiction account of his qui tam experiences and the impact his cases have had on the industry.
