Emerging Issues Conference

SOCIAL MEDIA & RISK MANAGEMENT

November 3-4, 2009               Lynnwood Convention Center                   Earn 14-16 CPE’s

Is your company on the leading edge of using social media and social networking to interact with the marketplace, or just thinking about it?

Are you a personal devotee of social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc., or still scratching your head as to what this is all about?

Does your company have social media guidelines, thinking about it, or not even on the radar screen?

This 2–day conference is geared toward risk professionals (auditors, security, risk managers, etc.) who realize that social media is not a passing fad, but may actually be rewriting the rules of the game as to how companies market themselves and manage their brand.

Come learn from experts in this exploding medium: what social media is, how companies are using it, what the risks are you should be attuned to, and how you can best help your company navigate the exposures.

This conference will, among other topics, address critical issues such as:

  • What exactly are the primary social media sites, how are they being used today, how is their use exploding and who is demonstrating early success.
  • How does social media and social networking establish the foundation for what is being referred to as Web 2.0.
  • How local companies are using social media as part of their marketing and brand management strategy.
  • How companies are using the power of third parties to monitor what is being said about them in the “ether.”
  • Since it is hard to calculate and measure an ROI, how do leading companies measure and evaluate success in social media participation.
  • What ethical and practical burdens employees must consider when choosing to participate in social media
  • How leading companies are crafting social media guidelines and how are they dovetailing with codes of ethics and employee handbooks

And, for all the other dimensions of risk out there:

  • What are the IT Security implications?
  • What are the Legal implications?
  • What are the Human Resources implications?

All this with meals and refreshments provided.
