THE INSTITUTE OF INTERNAL AUDITORS is an international organization dedicated to the advancement of the internal auditing profession. Its members are individuals in the auditing profession associated with companies in diversified lines of business and industry. Through joint participation with other leading internal auditors in an organization in which these interests are paramount, members secure proper recognition as a distinctive professional group. HISTORYIn September, 1943, a group of 25 internal auditors from the Los Angeles area signed the charter which established the Los Angeles Chapter. The professionals wanted an organization which would live up to the IIA's belief in "Progress Though Sharing." They felt this purpose could be accomplished by offering members affordable seminars, professional meetings and social contact with other colleagues.
