Continuity Planning

Although disasters in recent history have elevated the awareness of business continuity (BC) risks and their impact on corporate finances and operations, there are still companies that have failed to heed the warning signs and are underprepared for a disaster or a business disruption. Manmade and natural disruptions to businesses may be unpredictable, but the impact can be managed if an effective program for BC management is part of the overall corporate governance framework.  Isn’t this a model for life?

Gloria Gibbon, IIA-CNY’s current vice president, has been involved with disaster recovery and continuity planning for over 25 years and will share her knowledge and experience with the importance of having a strong continuity plan for business and life.

Gloria has over 25 years of internal audit experience.  She holds a Bachelors degree in Business/Finance from Penn State and a Masters in Technology Management from University of Maryland University College.  She is certified in internal and financial services auditing with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) as well as in information systems auditing from ISACA, formerly Information Systems Audit and Control Assoc.  In addition she is certified in governance of enterprise information technology, also from ISACA.  Gloria is past president and serves on the board for the Central New York Chapters of IIA and ISACA.  Gloria has been in the position of both the auditor and auditee and is sensitive to the strong need for good communications.  She is a member of Toastmasters and holds an Advanced Communicator Silver and Leadership designations.
