TOPIC:  Fraud 2012: What’s Out There

Class Overview: This seminar covers actual fraud issues and cases encountered by audit and consulting professionals.  Participant teams will brainstorm next steps and solutions, and create plans to take seminar examples from detection through conclusion.  Planned case topics include:

  • Travel and entertainment cost reimbursement
  • Procurement and contracting
  • Third party “shadow deals
  • Cash receipts and disbursements
  • Manipulating reported results
  • Government contracting
  • Tailored cases from participant organizations and their industries
  • Documenting a fraud case

Learning Objectives: This course for auditing professionals will help participants be more effective in:

  • Reacting effectively to fraud incidents
  • Fraud-based interviewing
  • Clarifying and managing fraud expectations
  • Building an effective fraud response
  • Avoiding common mistakes
  • Brainstorming solutions to real world fraud challenges
  • Managing fraud cases

Who Should Attend: This course is targeted towards auditors at any level who are interested in the topic. This class is designed to increase the knowledge of participants of all levels.

Instructor: John Hall

Mr. Hall is a professional speaker, seminar instructor and business consultant.  John’s 30 plus years of business experience in public accounting, multi-national corporations, and as a business owner and operator enable him to bring seasoned real-world experience to each presentation and client engagement.   And his high energy to every client program, seminar or assignment result in active participant interaction, the development of high impact “how to” actions and solutions, and enhanced business and interpersonal skills for all involved. Mr. Hall is a Certified Public Accountant.  He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Institute of Internal Auditors.  John is also a Trustee of the Keystone Center in Keystone Colorado and chairs the Audit Committee (www.keystone.org).  He also serves on the Board of Governors of The Gift of Adoption Fund headquartered near Chicago (www.giftofadoption.org).
