About the Speaker:

Sally Symanski, CPA, CGFM

State Auditor

Colorado Office of the State Auditor

 

Sally worked in the private sector prior to 1991 when she began her career in Colorado State Government at the Office of the State Auditor.  In 2002 Sally became Deputy State Auditor and was responsible for overseeing all financial audits conducted by the Office, as well as some performance audits.  In 2006 the Colorado General Assembly appointed Sally as State Auditor, which is a nonpartisan position.  The Office of the State Auditor is responsible for conducting the annual financial and compliance audit of the State of Colorado, as well as several political subdivisions such as the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association and Great Outdoors Colorado; conducting performance audits of state agencies, departments, and public higher education institutions; and reviewing the annual audited financial statements submitted by Colorado’s 2,900 local governments.
