Registration open 5:30 IUSB Student Activities Center 225 Special drawings and giveaways night! Presentation/presenter Overview: Dr. Gary M. Kern, Associate Professor of Decision Sciences, will be presenting on the Application of Decision Science in the Practice of Auditing: Revolution in the Trenches. Dr. Kern, who has published articles on Group Technology and Cellular Manufacturing, Demand Management, Scheduling, Computer-Assisted Instruction, and Management of Information Services, will provide some valuable insight and tools for improving audit project productivity. Before joining the faculty at IU South Bend in the fall of 1992, Dr. Kern taught MIS, Operations Management, and Management Science courses at the University of Virginia, Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana State University, the University of Notre Dame, and the Shanghai Institute of Mechanical Engineering. He received the S. F. Otteson Teaching Excellence Award while at IU Bloomington, and he became a member of the Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching (FACET) in February of 1997. In May of 1997, Dr. Kern was named an Indiana University Faculty Service Fellow. He is an active member of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), serving as President of the Midwest DSI during 1997-98. Dr. Kern was Program Co-Chair for the 1996 Midwest DSI Annual Meeting, hosted by IUSB in South Bend. He was founding co-editor and technical editor for the Journal of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. He is the Director of the CTS Center for Experiential Education (CTS-CEE), which was established by a gift from the CTS Corporation.
