Summer President's Message

Dear Chapter Members,

Have you ever heard the phrase "May you live in interesting times"? Unfortunately, those times are here. The economic downturn, housing crisis, H1N1 virus (swine flu), job layoffs/furloughs, lack of training or travel budget, do more with less and less – it just goes on.

But it is during these interesting times that thoughtful individuals and organizations re-examine their mission and purpose - reaffirming that which adds value to their community. That is what your Officers and Board of Governors have done. We have reaffirmed our commitment to give back to our membership in any way we can.

A few examples: While the cost to the Chapter of each individual’s luncheon will increase in September from $15.00 to $15.75, I’m glad to report that the member price will stay at $12.00. We’ve increased the number of free-to-members webinars. We’ve also voted to keep the cost of training classes at lower than 2007 prices, even though we will have to dip into our rainy day fund to do it. We checked. It’s pouring out there.

I hope that these actions and others help you to weather the difficult times ahead. You, our members, are what it’s all about. I’m excited and honored to be your President this year and feel confident that, working together, we will not only get through this, but will be better for it.
