President's Message

Chapter Members,

This is the last newsletter for the 2007-2008 chapter year.  It sure has gone fast.  We had a great year and I am sure that next year’s officers will make it even better.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has volunteered any of their time to help the chapter have another successful year.  That list would be long, so I will not throw out names.  You all know who you are.  THANK YOU!!!!

Being the president of the chapter has been very rewarding and I thank the membership for allowing me to serve as your president.  It was a difficult job, but the support of the officers, governors and committee volunteers helped make it easier.  Please consider volunteering yourself and make an impact on the chapter and its’ members.

I will now put on my Golf Outing Chairperson hat.  The outing is less than two months away.  Remember to get your registration in as early as you can.  As of April 11, we have 47 golfers registered - 97 spots remain.  We are having some new prizes this year; one of them is a hole-in-one contest for $25,000!  We may also have a 50-foot putting contest.  Go out and practice your par 3’s and putting.  We will need some volunteers to help with registration the morning of the outing.  Please contact me if you are interested.

Pittsburgh Chapter's Vision and Goals

VISION

This year's officers, Board of Governors, and committee leaders are committed to providing cost-effective, quality educational and networking opportunities related to today's dynamic internal auditing. They are equally committed to building recognition and respect for internal auditing among executive management, board of directors, audit committees, and the business community at large. We want Management, directors, audit committees, and other stakeholders to recognize internal auditing?s vast potential for utilization, to understand the value it adds, and to acknowledge its rule, contribution, and importance to the success of the organization as a whole. 

GOALS

Planning

• Hold 3 board of governors meetings during the year                                          
• Realign committee assignments to achieve an equitable workload distribution                                          
• Send the new president and one officer to the IIA conference                                          
• Create new marketing committee 

Membership

• Provide 10% chapter growth by:

Professional development

• Organize, plan and monitor the CIA examination                                          
• Conduct at least 9 monthly meetings and one to three round table discussions and or corporate sponsorship meetings

Communication

• Define and publicize the function and benefit of internal audit 

Service

• Improve attendance by 20% at chapter meetings

Research

• Submit a contribution to the national Research Foundation
