Message from the President

Welcome to the Western Michigan Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors!

We did it! With the outstanding attendance (42 attendees) at the Spring Seminar “Champions of Change”, I’m happy to report that the chapter has reached the GOLD level for the IIA’s Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) – the highest achievement level granted. This achievement continues the journey for the Western Michigan Chapter to become PLATINUM which is achieved after reaching GOLD for 10 consecutive years. The IIA judges each chapter on Service to Members, Service to the Profession, and Chapter Administration. Along with financial stability and increased resources, we are in a great position to continue the good things that have taken hold this year.

The fiscal year for the chapter ends on May 31, 2007 and Matt Smith, current VP and incoming President, and Jon Barton, incoming Vice President, will be taking over effective June 1, 2007. We will transition the roles and responsibilities over the next couple months. Matt and Jon recently attended the IIA’s Leadership Conference in Orlando, FL as part of their training to lead the chapter. I’m absolutely certain that Matt and Jon will continue to serve the chapter well. I will move into the role of Board of Governor and I will continue to actively participate with chapter activities.
