President’s Message I would like to begin by thanking Parveen Gupta and Marianne Marks for two very successful events in November. Parveen invited Lynn Turner, former Chief Accountant of the SEC in Washington, to speak to us about the Subprime Mortgage Crisis. Through Mr. Turner’s experience, he was able to present an overview of “what went wrong” in the financial market which lead to the subprime crisis. I believe his presentation left us with some insight on the current impact and the future impact of the economy. The next event that was held for November was coordinated by Marianne Marks, the College Bowl. Two colleges, Muhlenberg, and Moravian have competed against each other. They were given 80 questions consisting of both audit and accounting questions for a donation to their accounting club, and some cash to go home with. Our crew included Tracy Wilson, John Falk, Walt Conway, Connie Deemer, me, and our very own host……Tony Sabino. The event was very entertaining, but most of all, the students showed a great deal of enthusiasm and also enjoyed the event. We hope to include this each year into our program. Please look for upcoming events on the schedule. Don’t forget to sign up for the Auditing for Profit with Gordon Smith on December 5th. Jodi |
