President’s Message:    

Hello Members:

I hope you had the opportunity to attend our Continuous Auditing – Best Practices session at Moravian College on January 13th. I would like to give a special thank you to Dean Weil and John Rossi for allowing us to have our event at Moravian College. I would also like to thank our presenters: Walt Conway, Mark Fenstermaker, Joe Blisko, Larry Marinola, Jeff Johns, Lorann Burkhardt and Jim Mahoney. Everyone did an exceptional job and based on the evaluations, everyone really enjoyed the presentations and it gave our members valuable insight on data extraction, ACL, Spotfire, and IDEA. It also gave our members an opportunity to network and see some new faces. We had a total of 31 members in attendance for this event.

We have a one day Audit Report Writing session scheduled for March 19th at PPL that you won’t want to miss. James Roth who was our presenter last year at our Best Practices two day session will be visiting the Lehigh Valley again to offer this low cost training event. The course highlights include:

• The thought process for developing value-added audit findings
• The three steps in the “smart” writing process – and why keeping them separate is the key to success
• Use two powerful models and cut your writing time in half
• Effective Self-Editing: read what you wrote, not what you think you wrote; get the fog out and the action in; keep it short, simple, and clear
• Trends and Innovations in Audit Reporting: how leading edge firms are writing user-friendly audit reports
