February is our Student Night event, and we look forward to another successful promotion of the Internal Audit profession. Our event attracts local students from a variety of colleges and universities who have been extremely grateful for the professional insight gained at our annual event. It’s a great way to influence the future of the Internal Audit profession. Whether you are able to attend in person, sponsor a student, participate as a panelist or promote the event to a University, I hope you will participate in our outreach. Speaking of participation, your chapter leaders are working hard to plan for the next chapter year, and their planning efforts incorporate feedback from chapter members. I strongly encourage you to participate in the annual chapter survey. The time commitment is minimal, and your insights directly impact the upcoming chapter meetings, seminars, and events. This is your chance to voice your ideas and directly impact the future of your chapter. Watch your inbox later this month for the email link to the chapter survey. Many exciting things continue to evolve in the new year. Beginning in 2012, the IIA will be requiring annual submission of CPE for all licensed professionals. Be sure to check out the new CPE reporting requirements. The CIA exam will be changing in mid 2013. Exam content is being redistributed among three parts, and the recognition credit provision will cease. Be sure to check out the IIA Global website for further details, helpful links include: New CIA Exam Content and FAQ CIA Content Changes. An exposure draft will soon be released on proposed changes to the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. Watch your inbox later this month for a link to the exposure survey. COSO has released an update to the Internal Control - Integrated Framework for public comment www.ic.coso.org. As we continue through the chilly months at the beginning of 2012, the St. Louis chapter continues to Fire It Up with great events and resources for our members.
