President's MessageThe signs are all around that our summer will soon be over. Summer is typically a time for spending some time away from the office detaching and relaxing. I hope you have had that opportunity. September will soon be upon us and the IIA Saskatchewan Chapter has been planning to bring our members some great events and information over the next year. The 2008-09 Board has six new members, a larger representation from Saskatoon and a new Executive. The overall goal of the Board is to continue to meet or exceed your expectations in the year ahead. Please take a few moments to review who your representatives on the Board are. I would encourage you to get to know your Board members by reviewing their profiles (accessible from the Board of Governors link on our home page). James Barr did an awesome job as our President last year and I would like to thank him for his commitment to the IIA. In addition, a big thank you to all of the great people who worked hard to make last year a success; those on the Board and those that volunteered to organize behind the scenes. The planning for the 2008/2009 year was done with the IIA global vision in mind, Recognized, Trusted and Valued. Our goals for the year are:
We are positioned to make a positive difference in our profession, in our organizations and in ourselves. I challenge you to assist your Chapter by being recognized as an involved member of this association, being a trusted asset by volunteering within the Chapter and last but not least adding value by promoting our profession and providing the Board with feedback on how we can provide activities and educational events for our membership. I know you have good ideas and I would love to hear them. I look forward to leading the Board of Governors this year and welcome the new Board members. I appreciate their commitment to our Chapter. I hope you will take advantage of opportunities to continue promoting our profession, increasing our knowledge and networking with each other. Show off the passion you have for your profession! Let’s look for those opportunities to learn from each other. Its a great time to be an Internal Auditor! “If you don’t go after what you want, you will never have it, if you don’t ask the question the answer will always be no, if you don’t step forward you will always be in the same place.” - N. Roberts I welcome your comments, concerns and suggestions regarding how we may continue to support you, our members (email: linda.klassen@isc.ca; or phone: 306-787-4592). |
