The officers and Board wish to thank our members for making the chapter year a success! Through your input, we had programs for all levels…our CAEs, our general membership as well as specific interests for our members. The chapter networked with area schools to get the word out regarding the internal audit profession. The organization was able to grant scholarships to two deserving students. Our regional accounting / auditing firms are taking a bigger interest in the chapter’s activities. The membership grew by over a hundred members. The chapter achieved CAP Gold and we are well on our way to achieving Platinum status - 10 years of consecutive CAP Gold. All of this was accomplished through the hard work of members working behind the scenes and on the various committees. Thank you everyone for making 2007 - 2008 another memorable year for our chapter! The incoming Board and Officers will be working soon on the 2008 - 2009 event calendar. If you have any ideas, thoughts, or suggestions, please let our incoming President - Deb Lenz - know: debra.lenz@harley-davidson.com. We will see you again in September! May 2008 Join your fellow IIA members at our last meeting for the year. The chapter welcomes John Mallery, a comedian at heart but a digital forensics expert during the day at BKD Forensics and Dispute Consulting division. We will also honor our new CIAs and CFSA as well as our scholarship recipients. The meeting will have a few surprises for our members, too! If you can’t make it to John’s morning seminar (Digital Data in the Enterprise: Do You Have It Under Control?), plan to hear him during the lunch hour. Certification Don’t forget that the IIA’s new online Certification Candidate Management System (CCMS) is now open to register for the CIA exam. Beginning May 5th, candidates can begin sitting for the CIA exams. Exams for the specialty programs will begin in June. Click here for further details. Scholarship Recipients Congratulations to Aubrey Schwoerer, a senior at Marquette University, and Stacy Endl, a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, as the recipients of our scholarships. Each will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship during the luncheon. Please congratulate them when you meet them. New Board Members Congratulations to our new board members. Many of them will be present to introduce themselves and hand out some of the surprises to our members. We wish to thank Rene Thompson, our Certification chair, who will be moving into a new position at Northwestern Mutual. Congratulations Rene, but the local chapter will miss you. April 2008 The chapter year is winding down quickly but the Chapter is also gearing up for next year with the election of new Board members and officers. CIA TESTING ANNOUNCEMENT
The IIA is pleased to announce a significant enhancement to its certification program. Beginning in May 2008, certification testing will be available on a year-round basis through the new computer-based testing (CBT) process. Originally scheduled for roll-out in February with pre-determined testing windows, CBT will now go live in May, with no testing-window constraints. This means that certification candidates will be able to take full advantage of computer-based testing anytime throughout the year in multiple languages.
To further enhance the CBT process, The IIA has contracted with an industry-leading software vendor to deliver a high-quality registration and application process, resulting in a more complete launch. “By slightly delaying CBT roll-out,” says IIA Vice President Professional Practices Susan Lione, CIA, CCSA, CGAP, CFSA, “we will be able to offer long-term benefits that far exceed previous expectations!”
Please check The IIA’s Web site in March for program details and information on the registration process. Registration will begin in April. (The registration process and timing may differ in countries in which the local IIA institute manages the registration process. Candidates should refer to The IIA’s Web site for a list of these countries, along with contact information). Upon registering, a candidate will have six months to sit for the exam. Candidates who do not pass an exam part must wait 90 days before being allowed to retest. Upon its availability, more information will be posted to The IIA’s Web site at www.theiia.org/certification.

See you at the November events! September 2007 Thank you to everyone who attended the first chapter meeting at Maggiano’s. We learned about the auditing challenges, whether it’s the culture, the language, or the impact of titles, we face when auditing abroad. Many of us learned a new definition for the word, “difficulties” in Latvia. The month of October will be fast approaching. Deborah Seeger from Jefferson Wells will talk about the differences between Gen X and Gen Y and the impact the differences have in our working relationships. Personal invitations will be going out to the CAEs to discuss various audit topics with Professor Michael Akers from Marquette University. The discussion will be held on October 31st. If you haven’t seen it yet, we have recently streamlined the registration and payment process by using 123signup ( www.123signup.com). The benefits include a seamless registration and credit card payment process, as well as registration confirmation e-mails and receipts. We will also utilize the e-mail capability to announce events, so if you aren’t receiving these e-mails or have any other questions, please let us know. Also, please take note of the registration deadlines for each event as they may vary slightly based on the event type and location. In particular, several events in November have registration deadlines in October; see the event details within the website for specific deadlines. Finally, also note the revised cancellation policy when you register. Many of the board members were introduced at the September meeting. Get to know them and get involved in the activities of your local chapter. Let us know how you are spreading the word on internal auditing. If not, please check your profile with the IIA at www.theiia.org or 407-937-1100. The Board has worked hard to put a program schedule together that will meet the members’ interests. Our first meeting kicks off on September 18th at Maggiano’s. One of our own chapter members, who currently resides in Romania, will be with us to share the challenges in multi-national auditing.
