Greetings NOVA IIA members,

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season! It is hard to believe 2011 is almost behind us. We have had a wonderful Chapter year thus far and we are excited about the events we have planned as we move into 2012.

Our December meeting was a success! Monica Dalwadi & Mike Cullen from Baker Tilly presented on the topic, “Twelve Months of Auditing.” The speakers covered a number of areas including enterprise risk management, information privacy and security, cloud computing, government contract compliance, research compliance, construction management, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and business continuity. We thank the speakers for their participation and also thank Baker Tilly for their Gold Level sponsorship of the December meeting.

Our January meeting looks to be a good one as well! On January 10th, PwC will be presenting on the topic, “Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).” ERM continues to be a hot topic and this presentation will delve into the details. As always this meeting will be held at Maggiano’s in Tyson’s Corner. Please register via our event page on our website.

On January 27th, we will be holding our first webinar. Raven Catlin will be presenting on the topic, “Risk Assessment and Audit Planning.” This 2 CPE webinar will be both informative and interactive. We are offering an introductory rate of $10 for this webinar. What a great deal to get 2 CPEs! Please mark your calendars and register via our website.

The NOVA IIA would like to remind all members that our annual chapter elections are coming up on March 6, 2012. As a volunteer organization, we are always looking for members who would like to volunteer for a committee or officer role. Please contact me if you would like to discuss available positions. It would be an honor to work with you!
