PALM BEACH COUNTY INSTITUTE OF INTERNAL AUDITORS

2011-2012 Chapter Year PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE  

Warm Greetings to all Palm Beach County IIA members!  While most consider the summer to be a bit more relaxing and minimize some of their schedules to make room for vacation time etc, your chapter officers are working diligently and taking this opportunity to plan the upcoming chapter year.  I am honored to be leading the chapter for the 2011/2012 June to June period, and have a great leadership team assisting, including: Vice President’s Maria Frias and Nicole Barone, Treasurer and Asst Treasurer Scott Parker and Paula Ferrari, Secretary and Asst Secretary Katie Bouyea and Jodilia  Vasanji     Together and with the assistance of our Board of Governors, we are in the process of outlining chapter events to meet the three main goals and objectives set out by the IIA international including: Service to Members, Service to the Profession, and Chapter Administration.

We have currently outlined an ambitious full year of events including  four roundtable events, two networking socials, and four training seminars (2 full day and 2 half day) and potentially a district conference with our other district colleagues in Miami, SW Florida, and Florida West Coast(Tampa).  Seasoned Palm Beach County Officer, and past president Barbara Gerth has moved up to our District Representative and we are fortunate to have her as a direct link to our other district chapter programs.  Under her leadership and with strong teamwork, we were able to achieve the IIA’s Gold status again last year and hope to repeat in the year ahead.

To assist with this process, and to ensure your leadership team is providing “service to members” in the most relevant ways we will be sending a Chapter Survey this week as well and welcome your feedback on topics, timing, and locations.  Please take the 5 minutes to answer the survey as we look to meet your requests and need your feedback to accomplish this. 

 As always, we are looking for volunteers who wish to become more involved with the Chapter and the IIA overall.  We are currently planning our first networking event and student event in late August at FAU and are looking for volunteers to help with developing interview skills for students.  We will reach out with more info on this in the coming weeks.
