PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Dear WNY Chapter-

Thank you for the great attendance for our April Meeting and Seminar! Walter Smiechewicz’s presentation on Positioning Internal Audit Ahead of Strategic Growth was very thought provoking and hopefully got us all thinking on how we focus on the future!. Thank you to Ed Dickey for coordinating the joint Seminar with the Rochester chapter. The speakers were great and the facility and food was as well.

In May, we are pleased to have Louis DiSerafino, Chief Risk Officer at Independent Health present on Enhancing the ERM Contribution to Organizational Value. Please feel free to invite your colleagues in the ERM and Risk practices to join us. We will also take some time at the May meeting to thank the 2010-2011 officers and committee chairs for all the hard work they have put in this year.

We are working on planning the golf tournament. If you have any suggestions regarding time, location, place, or would be willing to help in any way, please contact me.

Congratulations to Matthew Clohessy and David Keenan of M&T Bank, and Daria Adolph-Bukowska of Derrick Corp. who have been named by The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) as Certified Internal Auditors^® (CIA^®). The CIA designation is awarded to internal audit professionals who have met the rigorous requirements of The IIA's CIA Program, including a four-part examination, as well as high standards of character, education, and experience.
