I am truly honored and excited to be elected to serve as the 2007-2008 IIA Long Island Chapter President. To serve as this Chapter’s president is a privilege because this organization continues to operate under the high standards that were established when it was created in 1990. In my many years of involvement with the chapter I have witnessed the tireless work of our members, Board of Governors, Chapter Officers, Committee Chairs, and especially our distinguished past presidents, from whom I have learned a great deal. I would like to recognize the efforts of our outgoing President, Kitty Craig. Kitty continued in the tradition of the chapter by being a dedicated president who gave much of her time and effort toward having another successful chapter year. And by the way, also once again achieved “Platinum” status for the chapter. Platinum status is only awarded by the IIA to a Chapter after it has achieved Gold status for ten consecutive years. As we start the new chapter year, I would like to welcome all our new members and thank the Board of Governors, Chapter Officers, Committee Chairs, and those members who have helped us achieve another successful year. Our goal is to provide quality programs that are responsive to the needs of our membership. As I am sure all of you have experienced change in your companies over the last few years, so has the chapter been changing to keep up with needs of its members. Last year we expanded our Board of Governors by 3 seats to accommodate our ever increasing membership, which now stands at an impressive 375. I am excited about this year’s program offerings, as they truly reflect why it is and exciting time for Auditing, IT and Accounting professionals. The topics were selected to provide a wide range of current issues and we have been fortunate to obtain excellent speakers to make the presentations both effective and entertaining. In addition, we believe that the registration fees are an exceptional value considering the quality of our seminars, speakers, and accommodations. As always, we are offering our annual subscription plan to our members in order to provide even greater value. Please visit our website at www.theiia.org/linychapter for more information. I welcome you to actively participate and benefit from the Chapter, the IIA and to share your experiences and network with your fellow IIA members. I believe that in this challenging and competitive economic landscape, it has never been a more important time to practice the IIA’s motto “Progress Through Sharing”. The current Officers and Governors look forward to serving you during the 2007-2008 Chapter year. It is an honor for me to be your President, and I ask that you, the members, actively participate and support your Chapter. Only through a partnership between the members, Officers and Governors will this organization continue in its success of serving its members. Please contact me to provide feedback on how the chapter is doing, if you would like to find out how you can contribute to the success of the chapter, or if I may provide assistance to you or your organization on any other matters relating to the profession. I look forward to meeting you at our upcoming seminars Vincent Colletti President, Long Island Chapter
