2011-2012 President’s Message - September 2012 President’s Message: Someone once told me, “Be happy when time passes quickly as that signifies that you are well and things are going well for you.” With this in mind I want to first thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Long Island Chapter President and I hope to make this 2011-2012 chapter year “pass by quickly” for you. We truly have a great year ahead and I say this with tremendous gratitude to the Officers and Members of the Board of Governors which make it all possible. I am pleased to say that we have again prepared for you a schedule of events that is diverse and will benefit auditors at all levels. We will continue to use our new venue, The Melville Marriott, and have listened to all the feedback we received from last year’s participants to make this year’s program even better. Please keep the excellent advice and feedback coming and reach out to your Officers or Board Members to help us maximize the benefits to you. Last year we had record attendance at our monthly meetings and we would like to continue the trend. I strongly believe that well attended seminars not only help the Chapter grow but enhance the experience for each and every individual as it creates a growing network of professionals you can reach out to. I encourage you to take advantage of this valuable asset. In the trying times we live in it is this Network that will be there to help support your efforts. Internal Auditors as a group are a small community but we are growing bigger every year and our Chapter is a testament of this. Remember that one of the biggest jobs you will ever have in your life will be the successful management of your own career and this Chapter can be your support group in making that happen. Demand more, ask for more, guide with your expectations and I will do my best to help ensure the Chapter meets your expectations and make this a beneficial year for all of us. Continue to check our website for further details on future events, news, job postings and other audit resources. As in the past, our primary method of communication is through the website and e-mail. If you have changed jobs, moved, or have profile changes, please update your information by visiting the IIA at www.theiia.org or calling the IIA’s Customer Service at 407-937-1111. Please continue to provide your support whether it by attending meeting, meetings, answering surveys or volunteering your services. If you would like to volunteer, please don’t hesitate to contact me or any of other Officers or Members of the Board of Governors. This is YOUR Chapter and your ideas, comments and suggestions are welcomed. I would like to thank all of those that have taken a leadership role in past years, especially the outgoing President, Carolyn Leahy. It is under their leadership that the Chapter has flourished and their guidance continues to support the Chapter. I look forward to continuing the success of the Chapter and to making this another highly successful year. I look forward to seeing you at upcoming events and learning about you and your personal achievements. Let’s help our Network grow!
