President’s Message On behalf of the Board of Directors, the Officers, and the hard working volunteers, and members of the Institute of Internal Auditors’ (IIA) Washington D.C Chapter, welcome to the Nation’s Capital. I am very honored and humbled to be selected as the 2011-2012 Chapter President and I look forward to another great year. This year our theme is “Making a Difference” and we have identified four goals to support this theme and our vision for the Chapter. The goals are: - Re-establish the D.C Chapter as one of the premier chapters in the IIA
- Re-energize and invigorate the D.C. Chapter membership base
- Be recognized as an advocate for risk management, internal audit, and inspector general professionals in the D.C area
- Continue to build on the positive financial position of the Chapter by practicing sound financial management.
Consistent with last year’s message, I challenge our membership to make a difference. I challenge board members to become active by leveraging their individual and collective resources to ensure chapter success, providing guidance and advice for chapter officers, and by attending at least half the chapter events this year I challenge the officers to execute their responsibilities with due professional care, support each other, and work to ensure this year (and beyond) is successful. To our members, I challenge you all to become active by volunteering, attending our monthly events, providing ideas for training, and letting your voice be heard. To our Chief Audit Executives (CAEs) and Inspector Generals (IGs), I challenge you to partner with our chapter by providing us with ideas and information on how we can serve you and your staff better, sponsoring events, and participating in roundtables and other events that could benefit from your experience and knowledge. I encourage all non-members to join our chapter, participate, network, attend our monthly events, become members, and volunteer. A special thanks to all Chapter members for their support throughout the previous years. I look forward to seeing you all throughout the year. We are always looking for new volunteers to get involved with our Chapter and support our profession. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact our Vice President of Membership or any officer or board member of our chapter. I look forward to serving as your Chapter President during the 2011-2012 year.
