Greetings:
After a very successful November meeting of the Chapter where Alan Siegfried, Auditor General of the InterAmerican Development Bank, hosted approximately 50 members and guests for an excellent presentation on Internal Audit's Role in Enterprise Risk Management, we plan on having a Gala 60th Birthday Party on December 17th at 5:00 PM at the L'Enfant Plaza Hotel Quorum Room. Patricia Miller, Chair of the Institute of Internal Auditors will be in town and will be our featured speaker.
Ms Miller, a partner with Deloitte and Touche and Chair of the Institute of Internal Auditors will be speaking on the "Global Internal Auditing Profession"
It is also the Chapter's 60th birthday party where we will be honoring new CIAs and CGAP, past presidents and some of the members with at least 25 years of membership with the Chapter. We will also have a cash bar, hot hors d'ourves, coffee, sodas and a birthday cake to celebrate the occasion.
We have also invited Chief Audit Executives and Inspector Generals from the Washington Metropolitan area to meet with Ms. Miller at 3:00 PM for an Audit Roundtable. At this time she will discuss the state of the internal audit profession and discuss audit issues with these top audit professionals.
We have invited students from area colleges to join us for the 5:00 PM meeting to meet with the members of the Chapter and to hear the Chair's remarks.
The cost for this meeting is $40 and you need to register and pay (through PayPal) on line at the Washington DC Chapter site, www.theiia.org/chapters/index.cfm?cid=27. You could also register on line and pay at the door with cash or check (No credit cards at the door).
During November, I met with Deborah Nichols, DC Auditor and her staff to discuss the Washington DC Chapter, what we are doing and asking what we can do for them. The Office of the District of Columbia Auditor is one of several IIA Group Members in the Washington DC area. I plan on visiting more Group and Government Group members during the year to discuss the Chapter, what we are doing and what we can do for the members.
