President's Message

Fellow NCFIIA Chapter Members,

Let me start this new chapter year by thanking John Byrd for serving as our chapter president for the 2008-2009 chapter year. He has left huge shoes to fill. John, along with the officers, board, committees, and all of our wonderful volunteers should be proud of all of the accomplishments of the Chapter last year. We increased our membership by 18%. We created a relationship with Gleim Publications, participating in two events at UF focusing on students and the chapter has 10 student members as a result. We increased our chapter activities to include monthly presentations and roundtables, providing an opportunity for 30 CPE hours. Most importantly, we achieved GOLD status for the 6^th consecutive year in the Institute's Chapter Achievement Program. And, it is all due to everyone's hard work and commitment to our organization. We are always looking for volunteers….just let us know of your interest!

Our last chapter event on May 21 was a huge success. Ken Kurdziel, CPA, a partner with James Moore & Company had a wonderful presentation on the International Financial Reporting Standards and Financial Accounting Standards Codification.

You should have received an e-mail with a request to complete the annual member survey. Please do so by June 5. We are looking forward to getting new ideas for activities and events that will promote our profession and help you, our members. We will also share the information with the other chapters at the annual district meeting on June 8, to discuss leadership strategies and promoting the IIA's motto Progress Through Sharing.

Along with Jessica, Lily, Brian, Ted, Vito, Linda, John, and Kathleen, we thank you for allowing us the opportunity to serve you and we look forward to seeing you at the next chapter meeting on June 11!
