The chapter will provide vast benefits to the audit practioners, executive management, board of directors and the government bodies with standard, guidance and information. With the recent Code of Corporate Governance for Capital Market Authority listed companies, internal auditors are expected to play a more challenging role, therefore it is essential to have such a chapter in the country, which will promote the internal audit profession within the Sultanate of Oman. Further the country requires more and more internal auditors to fulfill the current and future demands of public and private sectors. The Internal Audit profession is going through a challenging phase, and the need of the hour is to share knowledge, expertise & keep a close eye on all activities under the scope of Internal Audit. As we know Internal auditing is an independent , objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve an organizations operations, it helps an organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic , disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance process. It is therefore important that the concepts of Internal audit be reinforced continually for the practicing auditors and the same be passed to new entrants in the field. IIA Oman chapter is planning many events such as seminars, group meetings and conferences in the coming year. I certainly encourage you to attend as many sessions as you can since it is a unique opportunity to take advantage of some high quality seminars focused on the hot topics of interest to Audit professionals. Attending our sessions also provides some good networking opportunities for Audit professionals. You can interact with individuals from all types of organizations from Government, Industry and the Academic community. Lasting contacts can be made with individuals who can provide advice, guidance, benchmarking, moral support and "friendship"! This is your chapter and it exists to serve you.
