Losing money on Monthly Luncheons: We are currently losing money on our luncheon meetings, and will need to increase the rates for these great monthly events. It is with great reluctance that your IIA Chapter Officers and Board have taken this decision, but it is the only way we can keep the SLC IIA Chapter healthy... and allow it to continue bringing you the wonderful professional development and networking events to our Salt Lake internal audit professionals. The new rates, which will go into effect with the January 18th, 2008, luncheon at the Lion House are: IIA Current Members: $23.00 (versus $20.00 in 2007) Non-IIA Curent Members: $28.00 (versus $25.00 in 2007) Retirees/Students: $18.00 (versus $15.00 in 2007) The reasons we are currently losing money are: 1. Increase in Lion House Costs for lunch (which are still cheaper than other alternatives we have investigated in Downtown, such as the Joseph Smith Memorial Building). In our opinion, the Lion House gives us great service, our members are comfortable with that venue, they provide free parking, and it generally guarantees us the largest possible turnout of our members. 2. Members who register for the Luncheon, then do not show up !! We have to guarantee a certain number of attendees to the Lion House (2 days before the event, so they can plan the food). When we have members who cancel the day of the event, or just do not show up, we must still pay for those lunches... because the Lion House has provided the requested food. While the Lion House is very understanding, and trys to work with us... they rightly insist that we pay for the meals which they prepare. To try and prevent further losses in the future, your IIA SLC Board has instituted a "Cancellation Policy" for local IIA events, as follows: Cancellation Policy If you cannot attend a seminar or luncheon, you must cancel your
Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) The CAP program is an achievement/recognition program for chapters in North America. It is a tool we encouraged chapters to use; for planning, communication/reporting to IIA headquarters and your District Rep, and benchmarking activities with other chapters of a similar size. Chapters, based on a points system, achieve different status levels; Gold, Silver or Bronze. Awards will be presented at the Leadership Conference taking place here in Orlando, FL. Points are captured and reported in three categories: Service to Members is measured based upon the number of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) qualified education opportunities offered to Chapter members plus the number of CPE hours actually experienced (or consumed) by Chapter members. Service to the Profession is measured by education (CPE and review course) hours attended by Chapter non‑members, and those specific contributions to the profession, which, indirectly benefit all internal auditors (i.e., not limited to a specific Chapter). Chapter Administration covers the administration and management of the Chapter, including reporting, participation, and communications. You can help our local IIA Chapter earn CAP points. Below are several examples the local chapter can receive recognition for its members individual achievements and activities. Please communicate to any of the officers if you have or when you perform any of these contributions to the internal audit profession:
