Welcome back from the summer break! I hope all of you had a great (although maybe a tad hot!) summer. During the break, our Programs Committee worked many hours to arrange our upcoming meeting schedule. The Committee was challenged by the Board to provide 40 hours of CPE, keep us abreast of new and cutting edge topics (and not just offer fraud topics which we all find interesting) , provide best practices, and keep the cost low.
Just a quick glance at the 2011-2012 schedule shows our programs committee not only met the Board’s challenge, but exceeded it. The lineup features several nationally known and recognized speakers, and offers topics that will benefit and expand our knowledge and audit skills. If you haven’t done so yet, I would strongly encourage everyone to consider purchasing a subscription for the year. For $568 you are provided with 40 hours of CPE, 13 diverse topics from 14 different speakers, and 10 meals! This breaks down to a cost of only $14.20 per CPE hour, which is only slightly more than self-study programs, and much less than attending any national seminar.
We’ve also added a new venue to our agenda this year – The Clubhouse on Baltimore in Downtown KC! This was the former Kansas City Club and offers rich wood-paneled rooms, beautiful stained glass windows, and is located in the center of our membership base. They have free parking, and the facility rates were very reasonable.
In addition to providing superb continuing education, I also want to make our meetings just a little more fun and exciting, and provide some additional opportunities for networking, so look for door prizes, ice breakers, name tags, social hours and maybe even some seating assignments at a few of our meetings! We’ve also added two summer meetings for next year as well based on member feedback.
As always, we’ve carefully considered your responses from the member surveys, so while staying close to the successful format we’ve had in the past, we’ve also built upon it and have added a little innovation. I think you’ll be pleased. As always, please contact me with any questions or comments.
