Dear Fellow Members: Greetings as we start our 2008-2009 chapter year. I would like to start my message to you by thanking those who helped to make our 2007-2008 chapter year such a success. Our chapter has been honored to have so many dedicated, passionate, and visionary leaders to serve San Diego IIA members by sharing knowledge, resources, providing guidance, and serving on our Board and various committees. Fresh from the IIA District Leadership workshop in Los Angeles, your chapter leaders are planning for another successful year. I have chosen "Making a Difference" as my President's theme for this coming year. We will support your effort to make a difference in the quality of your organization's ethics and governance. But beyond that, we will support making a difference in your profession by helping you invest in your future, by getting involved, and by being an inspiration to others. Investing in your future means making the decision to get that certification! We have new and exciting ways to support Certified Internal Auditor candidates. You can do it, we can help. Getting involved means getting opportunities to make a difference in our chapter and our community. I encourage you to take advantage of these opportunities as they come up. Being an inspiration means helping the next generation of auditors get started. We will again get involved with the local universities to promote the profession and support the students. We got off to a great start with a very successful fraud seminar in June. We will have another seminar during the year, so please look for the announcement about that. I look forward to seeing you at our first meeting of the year in September, details to follow.
