PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Greetings members!

With the beginning of the 2011-2012 Chapter year, our Chapter is 56 years old (founded April 13, 1955). The Birmingham Chapter has a long and storied tradition of service to its members and the internal auditing profession. This tradition is reflected in the Chapter’s “Platinum” status awarded by the national IIA, a recognition maintained for well over a decade. This tradition is a result of the support and participation of you, our members, in the Chapter’s events and activities. Thank you for your support and participation! We will continue to offer many events and activities this year in which you can find opportunities for professional and personal growth.

Our Chapter’s educational events will include, as always, monthly CPE meetings on the first Thursday of every month from September through May. As in previous years, you may anticipate several of these meetings will offer two CPEs. In addition, the Chapter will hold its annual Fall Seminar and Spring Conference, each of which will offer the opportunity to earn double-digit CPEs. We hope that you continue to find these educational events both valuable and affordable.

In terms of academic relations activities, the Chapter hosts a student event each year at a local university campus providing an opportunity for students to engage with Chapter members. Volunteer opportunities also exist with Junior Achievement. If you have a specific interest in any of these or other events, please let me know. Most importantly, we will be conducting our annual survey of members in the summer months. Please complete the survey as the responses are utilized when planning events and activities for the Chapter.
