Capital Project Financial Controller
Lilly’s Capital Controls and Audit (CCA) organization partners with global manufacturing sites and corporate procurement, engineering and financial organizations that are responsible for delivering capital projects (up to $500M) to ensure capital projects are delivered in an environment of good
financial control. CCA manages 2 critical processes to provide assurance that capital projects are financially controlled: Audit Function and Capital ProjectControllership Function.
KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:
Responsible for leading CCA’s Capital Project Finance Controllership Function, but with up to 25% time dedicated to audit activities and
other project initiatives.
Assist manufacturing plant site’s financial, engineering, and procurement functions to ensure local capital planning and delivery processes are adequately controlled and in compliance with corporate policies, guidelines and expectations.
Assist and train financial controllers of major capital projects toensure project financial control processes are maintained and
effective.
Represent finance on Task Teams led by Engineering to standardize and improve efficiencies of local capital planning and delivery.
Manage CCA controllership processes which monitor financial compliance of key major capital projects and continuous auditing
processes of key capital vendors.
Share knowledge globally, to ensure capital control process best practices are leveraged worldwide.
Lead or assist partners (manufacturing sites, corporate engineering,and corporate procurement) in special projects to improve the
business process control of local- and major-capital processes
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors required
Understanding of accounting principles and SAP (or other enterprise management experience) accounting transactions. At least 5 years experience with construction project management processes for both large, complex major-capital projects, and local-capital projects Capital prioritization and planning processes Capital execution processes including procurement, construction contracts and contracting, scheduling, quantity surveying, change
order management, construction project owner risk mitigation processes.
IT knowledge
Ability to utilize SAP (or other enterprise management experience) – both financial and project management modules
Ability to learn ACL for data mining.
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES:
Professional certifications (CIA, CPA, CFM) preferred
Influence and Leadership – role requires working cross functionally with other groups as well as with third party vendors and thus
individual must be able to influence both internal and external partners.
Strong understanding of construction project owner risk areas, contract interpretation and execution, procurement processes,
construction vendor business processes and risks
Strong understanding of financial controls as they relate to construction projects and construction project vendors.
Strong analytical skills - to understand, and evaluate issues, prioritize and implement action plans to control capital costs and to
manage continuous auditing program.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written to ensure linkages are made between site and corporate on projects and in
communicating best practices.
Ability to design and implement business and control processes in existing or new capital business processes
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
Based in Indianapolis
Interplant travel within Indiana likely.
Travel required for professional development training, controllership, audits and project related work outside Indiana (US
or OUS). 10-25% of time.
