IIA SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The Scholarship will be offered to Bermudian College students, university students, university degree holders and eligible working adults who are interested in becoming Certified Internal Auditors and working as Internal Audit professionals for the betterment of the profession, Bermuda and Bermudians.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college-level institution.
• Exhibit high moral and professional character and must submit a character reference form when applying for the exam.
• Display exemplary professional behaviour and judgment and must agree to abide by the IIA’s Code of Ethics
The scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,250 on the basis of the degree to which the Scholarship Committee and the Board believes that the eligibility criteria are met.
Applications will be available from all members of the Board, with submissions due by 5 p.m. on the last day of January for the May examination and July for the November examination to the Secretary of the IIA (BERMUDA) CHAPTER with full awareness that the registration dates are March 31 for the May examination, and September 30 for the November examination. .
The scholarship is limited to Bermudians and long term Bermuda residents and is tenable for payment of fees associated with the Certified Internal Auditor examination. This will include obtaining preparatory material to prepare for the examination, the examination fees and assistance to a preparatory course either on the island or overseas.
The scholarship is intended to cover the cost of each of the four examinations. The Institute will pay the examinations fees directly as candidates are registered and eligible to sit the examination(s). Therefore, if a scholarship holder decides to discontinue their participation in the program, there will be no further scholar disbursements required.
The Scholarship winner will submit invoices to support the proper use of the scholarship funds. Improper use of funds could disqualify the person from writing the examination and a request to repay the funds. The Scholarship winner will be eligible only once for the scholarship but may write the CIA examination as many times as they are eligible and willing. However, the Board can decide to assist a previous Scholarship winner in subsequent attempts to successfully complete the CIA designation, but this is solely at its discretion.
The Board reserves the right to, at its discretion increase the number of scholarships awarded to more than two (2) per year.

For Priority consideration, please submit one completed application for to Secretary of the IIA (BERMUDA) CHAPTER on or before the listed deadline. Applications received after this date will be reviewed on a first come basis as funds permit.
All Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit all necessary documents (IIA Scholarship requirements, as well as CIA examination requirements) as soon as possible to assure that a last-minute delay will not preclude consideration for a scholarship award.
