The IIA Qatar Chapter is proud to announce the first course on internal auditing to be held at the Millennium Hotel in Doha on June 8th and 9th 2008. The course title is Assessing Business Risk For Auditors. The instructor is Mr. Larry Hubbard from the USA. The course outline is described below. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the risk assessment process and earn Continuing Professional Education Credits. Course Fees, subsidized by IIA for this two day event have been kept to a minimum at QR 475.00for paid up Members / QR 600.00for Non-Members.

Course Outline
This two-day seminar presents the basic concepts of risk management and the risk assessment techniques used by auditors. The first half of the seminar is devoted to terminology, approaches and evaluation methods applicable to enterprise-wide risk assessment. The second half of the seminar focuses on micro-level risk assessment within audit assignments and presents several risk frameworks and methods of assessing business risk within an audit. The risk assessment thought process (objective, risks, controls) coming from the COSO definition of internal control provides the basic approach for the evaluation of risks and controls in the seminar.

Course preparation and Administration:
No advance preparation or prerequisites are necessary for this course but a basic knowledge of the Committee of Sponsoring Organization’s Internal Controls – Integrated Framework (COSO) would be helpful.
15 CPE hours in the Auditing field of study are available.
