The Bev Cavanaugh Memorial Scholarship

This $2,500 scholarship is awarded in honor of past Denver Chapter IIA President Bev Cavanaugh.  Bev embodied energy, optimism, and determination in the face of challenge and adversity.  Her leadership inspired all of us to invest more…in our families, our profession, and in others.

Requirements:

• Must be at least a part-time student (6 hours or more) in an undergraduate or graduate program;
• Must have at least one semester remaining in degree program after May 2008;
• Must have maintained acceptable academic performance in the past semester (no grades below a C); 
• Must attend at least one Denver Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors meeting.  The Scholarship will be awarded at the May 2008 meeting and that qualifies as attendance at one (1) meeting.  A complete meeting schedule can be seen at the chapter website http://www.theiia.org/chapters/denver.
• Must complete a written Essay of 500 words or less describing "The Value of Internal Audit to a Corporation".
  Scholarships are awarded based upon demonstration of attributes possessed by honoree Bev Cavanaugh.  Financial need is not considered a criterion.  Desired activities and performance characteristics (i.e. attitude, commitment, leadership abilities, and community involvement) will factor heavily into the selection.

Application Process:

1. Complete the attached application Scholarship Form.
2. Submit a certified transcript from the school in which you are currently enrolled. 
3. Provide two references attesting to your participation in professional associations, charitable, or community service activities.
4. Complete a written Essay of 500 words or less describing "The Value of Internal Audit to a Corporation".
5. Return the application and required attachments no later than Friday, April 4, 2008.

In addition to the $2,500 Beverly Cavanaugh Memorial Scholarship, the recipient will receive a free one year student membership to the Denver Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
