NC STATE UNIVERSITY SEEKS IT AUDITOR

The NC State University Internal Audit Division (IAD) seeks an IT auditor with a wide variety of work experience and the ability to integrate that experience into a comprehensive audit approach.  The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Perform extensive research of both internal and external best practices and requirements related to subject of audit or consulting engagements and use that research to develop non-standard audit programs and testing protocols
  • Conduct all aspects of the audit process including planning, fieldwork, writing of issues and reports, and follow-up while continuously monitoring risks and taking appropriate actions
  • Audit and consult on a wide variety of IT systems and processes and assess general IT controls and security over applications, mainframe and/or client-server environments, standard and wireless networks, operating systems, databases, software development and implementation and software licensing
  • Conduct on-going subjective and objective risk assessments of University IT units to propose risk-based audits and consulting activities to IA management
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapt to the Division’s needs by participating in audits of areas other than IT including operational, compliance, fraud/ investigative, and financial as needed and appropriate

IAD’s mission is to support the University in the successful achievement of its strategic goals.  This is accomplished by serving as an independent partner to executive management, faculty, and staff in the identification and balancing of their units’ risks through objective, flexible, and proactive audit and consultation services.  IAD provides independent evaluation of the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes and makes recommendations for improvement. Much of IAD’s work is focused toward assessing efficiency and effectiveness in processes and internal controls, the promotion of appropriate best practices, evaluation of regulatory and policy compliance, and the prevention and investigation of potential misuse of state and university assets.
