Student Career Night Acknowledgements Our April meeting was also our annual Student Career Night. We reached out to University of Southern California (USC), California State University Long Beach, (CSULB), California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), California State University Fullerton (CSUF), UC Irvine, Concordia University, Vanguard University, and Loyola Marymount University to invite theirl students to an informative meeting where they could be exposed to the auditing profession and also have recruitment opportunities. It was a nice event for not only the 33 students attending, but Chapter members were able to greet some old-time members we don't see often, including Past-President Fritz Sullivan and Bernard Hargreaves of Southern California Edison, and Lynne Yorita and Sherrie Mancera from UCLA. We hope to hold future Student Nights, as these are unique events which are expecially worthwhile for our chapter. Thanks again to Ron LaPlante, Kathryn Andrus, and Jim Olds for putting this together and to our corporate sponsors for supporting the students in the endeavor: - Northrop Grumman
- Robert Half
- Southern California Edison
- ACL
- Mayer Hoffman McCann CBIZ
- Port of Los Angeles
- Ron LaPlante
- TTM Technologies

IPPF
The IIA's Board of Directors has approved the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF), under the oversight of The IIA's Professional Practices Council. The standards have been rolled out in the IIA's three core languages - English, French, and Spanish - the IPPF's new structures and associated processes will ensure that authoritative guidance is current, relevant, and internationally consistent. Between now and the date of release, IIA Global Headquarters will keep you informed on the progress every step of the way. Watch this space for updates about the IPPF process, the IPPF project, transitioning from the PPF to the IPPF, and the final product.

| Beach Cities One-Day Seminar March 23 Save the date. We will be holding our annual One Day Seminar this year on March 23, 2012 at Toyota HQ, where it has been been for the past few years. Although the final program has not been determined, we hope to have a General track and a Government break out track. We want to hold pricing at last years' rates which promises one of the best deals available for earning 8 CPE in a pleasant atmosphere. We are still working on finalizing the program but save the date because we will begin taking reservations in February. Watch this space or read the newsletter for more details as they become available.
Volunteers Needed The chapter is currently looking for members who would like to step up to the next leadership level and volunteer with the Chapter. It may appear that the chapter runs itself but it takes some work by people who are volunteering to help the chapter. Right now, our Chapter needs a Programs VP. The Programs VP is responsible for arranging and coordinating the speakers for the meetings. You get a lot of experience as well as assistance and mentoring from the other board members. If interested, contact a board member.

Help Us Reach Gold Again in this Year's CAP Program Six years in a row (2005-2010) our chapter has reached the Gold level in the IIA Chapter Achievement Program (CAP). That means our chapter and our members are consistently very active in the audit profession. We’re always calculating our CAP points and we need to know when our members participate in either of the following activities: Speaking on an internal audit topic at a meeting , seminar, or CPE class. Submitting an article to a trade publication such as The Internal Auditor,
CAE Bulletin, IIA Educator, and other specialty newsletters. If you have participated in one or more of these activities, please email the details to Jim Myers, our CAP coordinator.
