IIA MAY MEETING NOTICE

Health Care Reform & the Implications on Internal Audit

About the 5/25/10 Presentation

On November 7, 2009, the Affordable Health Care for America Act, was passed in the House by a vote of 220-215.The three panels with jurisdiction over health policy in the House have been working together as one committee to develop a single bill that fulfills President Obama's goals of reducing health care costs, protecting and increasing consumers' choices, and guaranteeing access to quality, affordable health care for all Americans. This presentation will show the potential implications of recently enacted Health Care reforms on Internal Auditors and the auditing profession.  Dr. Nahra will identify potential controls which auditors can focus on over the next several years which can be used to mitigate risk related to this sweeping legislation.

The IIA announced the launch of our new “Recruit-A-Colleague” program in October 2009. This annual program focuses on a continuous cycle of recruitment and reward for both individual members and your chapter. The year-long program replaced our former “Refer A Friend” and “Membership Madness” campaigns, and will run on an October – September annual cycle.
Recruiting new individuals benefit the WNY Chapter in the following ways:
  • Increase your CAP points* based on net membership gain.
  • Be the chapter with the highest recruitment percentage and receive recognition.
  • Earn a FREE speaking engagement from an IIA representative.
Program Information Materials:
Complete program information and tools for the Recruit-A-Colleague program are now available online at http://www.theiia.org/recruit. These tools include materials to pass along to potential candidates, sample letters/email, and application forms. So start making your list of colleagues to recruit, encourage your members to do the same, and help all of us share the value of The IIA!

*Chapters can receive two achievement credits per member awarded annually based on the Chapter's net membership gain. Two (2) extra credits are issued if within the top 25% in growth of Chapter size and one (1) extra credit is issued if within the top 50% in growth of Chapter size.
