RISK-IT is a comprehensive IT risk governance framework fully integrated with COSO, ERM, COBIT and VAL-IT.  Risk IT was developed by a team of global business and IT experts from ISACA and more information is available at www.isaca.org/riskit.  The framework is very useful for auditors defining common key IT risks with mapping of key controls and other suggested controls. 

Johan Lidros is the co-founder and President of Transcendent Group providing Technology Risk Management Services in Florida and Europe.  He has authored several articles on IT risk management and been a speaker at several seminars regarding IT security and IT risk management.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

The Institute of Internal Auditors, North Central Florida Chapter, is pleased to announce the opportunity to apply for student scholarships. The types of scholarships and requirements to qualify are shown below:

NCFIIA Membership Scholarship – Student:  scholarship provides membership in the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Requirements to qualify are:

  • Enrolled full time or part time at a community college or university

Submit an essay for consideration to the NCFIIA Scholarship Committee (email to  gsheffi@ufl.edu ).  The essay should include information about your education, work experience, and interest in internal audit.

Benefits derived from these scholarships are:

  • Networking with successful professionals
  • Introduction to local government leaders
  • Interesting and relevant topics covered in meetings
  • Training and development
  • Learning benefits of auditing as a career
  • One free chapter meeting (excludes chapter seminars) eligible for one year upon award.

Certified Internal Audit (CIA) Exam Scholarship – Student:  scholarship provides reimbursement for exam fees and each part passed of the exam.   Requirements to qualify are:

  • Enrolled as full time senior level undergraduate (12 semester  hours) or graduate (9 semester hours) student
  • Register and take the exam while enrolled as a student.

Submit an essay for consideration to the NCFIIA Academic/Certification/Scholarship Committee (email to gsheffi@ufl.edu ).  The essay should include information about your education, work experience, and interest in internal audit. 

  • Exam fees will be reimbursed for each part passed up to one year after the scholarship is awarded.

Help Us Stay GOLD  in the CAP Program

For our SEVENTH year, we received the Gold Award. We are in our eighth year, and we continually calculate our Chapter Achievement Program (CAP) points. We need to know when our members participate in either of the following activities:  

  • Speaking (voluntary, unpaid) on an internal audit topic at a meeting, seminar, or CPE class.
  • Submitting an article to a trade publication such as The Internal Auditor, CAE Bulletin, IIA Educator, and other specialty newsletters
