CIA PREPARATION COURSE AT CARLETON UNIVERSITY 
| We are very excited that our Ottawa members now have an additional option when preparing for their CIA exams. Carleton University (Sprott School of Business Professional Programs) in partnership with the IIA Ottawa Chapter is now offering CIA exam preparation classes based on The IIA’s CIA Learning System.
The IIA’s CIA Learning System program is delivered in a blended learning format of printed workbooks and web-based learning software. To take a demo of these materials, visit www.LearnCIA.com. These tools are augmented by the expertise of an experienced instructor. The classroom environment allows for interaction with your peers and the instructor and also provides structure to keep you on track to meet your goals.
The program will be offered through sessions that combine weekday and weekend classes, making it ideal for busy working professionals. PART 3 - Business Analysis and Information Technology will be offered on Friday April 23, Saturday April 24, and Saturday May 1, 2010. IIA OTTAWA CHAPTER UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP Chapter Expands its Scholarship Programs The IIA Ottawa Chapter is proud to announce the expansion of it’s scholarship program to Carleton University. In May 2010, the chapter entered into an agreement with the school to support the development of future professionals through an annual $1,000 scholarship beginning in the 2010-11 academic year. This scholarship is intended to encourage students to consider a career in internal audit by awarding high performing students at the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University who have demonstrated an interest in the profession. This represents the second academic institution with whom the chapter has entered into a partnership with for this purpose. Through these scholarships, the chapter aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of the opportunities available in internal audit and promote these to future generations. COMPUTER BASED CERTIFICATION EXAMS The IIA has rolled out computer based examinations for the CIA, CCSA and CGAP certifications. The Ottawa testing site for the CIA, CCSA, CGAP and CFSA is Pearson VUE - Willis College of Business & Technology at 85 O'Connor Street in Ottawa (on the corner of O'Connor Street and Slater). It is easily accessible by public transportation, between two main transit ways (Slater and Albert Streets). There is no parking on site but there are parking meters and public parking nearby. Please refer to the certification section of the IIA's website for more information on computer-based exams at www.theiia.org/certification. IIA OTTAWA CHAPTER’S STRATEGIC PLAN 2007-20011 It is an exciting time to be a member of the Internal Audit profession. Consistent with trends in the North American arena, our local chapter is experiencing record growth in membership and increasing demand for activities and events. In response, the IIA Ottawa chapter has completed its Strategic Plan 2007-2011. This plan will guide the chapter's activities and growth over the next four years.
