I can't say if they are "real" or not as none of the auditors I know has ever heard of them. Of course most of the auditors I know are members of the IIA, AICPA, ACFE or IMA.

Best wishes!

They are a real organization. I was able to gain certification by them. However, with 10+ years experience in public accounting, multiple certifications and thousands of hours of audit and sox experience, it was rather easy for me. I would not compare them to the IIA, AICPA, etc. Consider it a secondary certification based on experience, similar to the Certified Fraud Specialists (CFS) for fraud. The Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is still the world known leader for fraud examiner, but CFS is starting to build a reputation but doesn't have the support or following like the CFE.

Back to your question, CIA is more well known, but CICA is starting to build recognition. For someone starting off, CIA is more well known and will benefit your career more. CICA is more if you want to show your experience in an industry but have a different background such as legal etc.

They are a legit organization, however, i think they are still in the formation stage (CBOK-wise). in fact, when you apply for the CFE, you will find the CICA in the list of certifications recognized by ACFE.

Yes,

They are real. The IIC is just like any new group, they need people who have been in the field for some time to make them legit. A log of people in the government have their CICA and the CCS. If you have the experience get it until you get the CPA, CIA, or CFE. Remember the CFE started off the same way.
